Chels turned thirty last month, and to celebrate, a number of us headed to Lake Tahoe for a weekend of thirty, flirty fun!
Even though the festivities didn’t begin until Friday, Robby and I went an evening early to check out the area. It was beautiful, with deep green pine trees, miles and miles of clear water, and impressive mountains sides. We stopped at Squaw Valley, home of the 1960 Olympics. Although it’s quiet during this time of year (come winter it will be hopping), it still stirred up our love for all things Olympics.
After a quick drive into the town of Tahoe, it was time to meet Chels and Roger. They had rented this fantastic home for us all to stay in––three stories, seven beds, a stunning great room and kitchen area, and a beautiful deck outdoors.
Chels had brought the makings of a photo booth, which we set up: gold sequined backdrop, plenty of brightly-colored wigs (something she believes all people should own), and pieces from past Halloween costumes. Pictured below is Chels and me (“the beauty and the oompa-loompa”), Robby and me (the fox and the bee), Chels and her best friend of forever Sara (pulling those wigs off like nobody’s business), and the Knoren’s themselves, a couple who has mastered the art of entertaining.
This was a hit all weekend! And being that it was in the corner of the large living room, it worked seamlessly to dress up, take a photo, and then shimmy on over to the dance floor.
Although we had to leave early (always do…), the rest of the group had an afternoon at the lake and the official singing of the Happy Birthday song, which I was most sorry to miss. At least I had the joy of watching Chels choose her birthday cake, a crazy dog cake that somehow fit perfectly.
Happy birthday, Chels! You couldn’t possibly know the joy you bring to everyone around you. I love you and wish you the best year yet!
